Tseung Kwan O to Lam Tin Tunnel

Tseung Kwan O to Lam Tin Tunnel is a dual two-lane highway approximately 4.2km long (of which about 2.6 km is in the form of tunnel), connecting Po Shun Road of Tseung Kwan O in the east and Eastern Harbour Crossing and Cha Kwo Ling Road of Kwan Tong in the west. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor with respect to delays and disruption to the construction works, claims for additional payment and other commercial advice.

HK Airport 3 Runway System Project – Reclamation Works

Formation of 650 hectares of land north of the existing airport island for the project using non-dredge methods, including deep cement mixing techniques with site clearance and demolition, geotechnical and ground improvement works, rockfill sloping seawall construction, marine and land filling, provision of drainage and construction of a new access control point with deep foundations. ADR provided commercial and contractual advice to a number of the contractors, including project planning and programming reviews.

NSL Cross Harbour Tunnel

NSL Cross Harbour Tunnel

NSL Cross Harbour Tunnel is part of MTRC’s Shatin to Central Link. It includes the construction of the North Ventilation Building (NOV) at the Hung Hom Landfall, and construction of a cut & cover tunnel and Immersed tunnel sections extending across the harbour from the NOV to the Causeway Bay Typhoon shelter. ADR provided advice and independent opinions to the main contractor with respect to the civils and building works.

Hin Keng to Diamond Hill Tunnel

Hin Keng to Diamond Hill Tunnel

Hin Keng to Diamond Hill Tunnel is 5-km tunnel stretching from Hin Keng to Kai Tak for MTRC’s Shatin to Central Link as well as construction of a Ventilation Building and Emergency Egress / Access Point. The tunnel excavation was carried out by both tunnel boring machines and drill and blast methodology. ADR provided the claims team for the preparation of claims for delay, disruption and management of change.

Hung Hom Station and Stabling Sidings

Hung Hom Station and Stabling Sidings

Hung Hom Station and Stabling Sidings is part of MTRC’s Shatin to Central Link and included the permanent and temporary works for the South and North Approach Tunnels to the new platforms and integration of the existing Hung Hom Station with the new platforms. ADR prepared an expert determination report with respect to delays and disruption to the diaphragm wall to assist the main contractor, diaphragm wall subcontractor and employer agree an equitable settlement on the resulting delay and cost.

Central-Wan Chai Bypass – Central Interchange

Central Interchange is part of the Central Wan Chai Bypass road project. Works included the construction of a cut-and-cover tunnel and the associated tunnel portal approach structures, a bridge deck for the westbound carriageway of Rumsey Street Flyover extension and the eastbound Slip Road Flyover. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor with respect to delays and disruption to the construction works, claims for additional payment and advised on measurement disputes.

Tse Uk Tsuen to Shek Yam Tunnels

Tse Uk Tsuen to Shek Yam Tunnels is a section of MTRC’s Express Rail Link and consists of a 7.65 km long drill and blast tunnel section with associated ventilation and access adits and structures passing below Tai Mo Shan. ADR prepared claims for delay & disruption and delay recovery measures for the main contractor, provided advice on various commercial and contractual issues, and assisted in the preparation and presentation of the matter as part of an alternative dispute resolution process (third party intervention).

Central Reclamation Phase III

Central Reclamation Phase III

Central Reclamation Phase III principally involved the reclamation of 18 hectares of land in Victoria Harbour including replacement facilities, seawalls, drainage culverts and cooling water pipeline extensions, ferry piers and berth facilities and miscellaneous works such as roadworks and hard/soft landscaping. ADR prepared claims for delay and disruption for the main contractor and also prepared a financial quantum report for the main contractor in connection with a dispute with its marine piling subcontractor.

West Kowloon Terminus Station North

West Kowloon Terminus Station North

The West Kowloon Terminus Station North is a 380,000-square metre underground terminus including nine long-haul and six shuttle platforms located in the heart of Kowloon serving as Hong Kong's international gateway to China. The project includes customs and immigration facilities, departure lounges, duty free and other retail outlets on four levels. ADR provided initial contract advice and carried out a commercial review for risk and opportunity for the main contractor at tender stage. During the project, ADR provided senior management to provide commercial and contractual advice and to lead the claims team, being responsible for all claims for extensions of time, delays and disruption, management of change and re-rates.

Mai Po to Ngau Tam Mei Tunnels

Mai Po to Ngau Tam Mei Tunnels is part of MTRC’s Express Rail Link and consists of the railway tunnels between Mai Po and Ngau Tam Mei, the Mai Po Ventilation Building and associated ventilation shaft and access structures. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor including for delay, disruption and management of change, together with claims against the insurer with respect to ground related issues.

Reconstruction & Improvement of Tuen Mun Road - Sam Shing Hui Section

The Reconstruction and Improvement of Tuen Mun Road – Sam Shing Hui Section works include the reconstruction, widening and re-alignment of Tuen Mun Road sections between Sam Shing Hui and Siu Lam including bridges, box culverts, underpasses, subways and roadside barriers. The modification and stabilization of slopes, including slope drainage and landscaping. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor in respect of delay, disruption and acceleration of the Works.

Reconstruction and Improvement of Tuen Mun Road – Eastern Section

The Reconstruction and Improvement of Tuen Mun Road – Eastern Section works include the reconstruction, widening and re-alignment of Tuen Mun Road sections between Tsuen Wan and Tsing Lung Tau including viaduct sections, bridges and other structures, the modification and stabilization of slopes, including baffles, slope drainage and landscaping. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor including delay and disruption, management of change and re-rating.

SYP & HKU Stations and SYP to KET Tunnels

Sai Ying Pun and Hong Kong University Stations and Sai Ying Pun to Kennedy Town Tunnels is the largest project for MTRC’s West Island Line, and comprises of two underground cavern stations (Sai Ying Pun and Hong Kong University) with associated 2 km of running tunnels and 3km of construction and pedestrian adits. Constructed by drill and blast, 100m of soft tunneling by ground freezing and nine entrance shafts up to 80m deep by mechanical means. ADR led the claims team and prepared claims for the main contractor in respect of delay, disruption and delay recovery measures.

Tai Kong Po to Tse Uk Tsuen Tunnels and Shek Kong Stabling Sidings and Emergency Rescue Sidings

Tai Kong Po to Tse Uk Tsuen Tunnels is the construction of two sections of single-track tunnel and forms part of MTRC’s Express Rail Link. The north section from Tai Kong Po to emergency rescue sidings, and the south section from Tse Uk Tsuen to emergency rescue sidings. ADR assisted the main contractor with respect to a dispute with its diaphragm wall subcontractor.

Stonecutters Bridge

Third Bosphorus Bridge, Turkey

The Third Bosphorus Bridge in Istanbul, Turkey, is a joint road and rail suspension bridge with a width of 59 meters, a main span of 1408 meters and a tower height of more than 322 meters, with works being carried out from both the European and Asian sides of the Bridge. ADR prepared a commercial review and claims for delay and disruption connected with the construction of tower crossbeam, side span structure, approach block and anchorage block.

Stonecutters Bridge

Stonecutters Bridge is a 1,596 metre long dual 3-lane high level cable stayed bridge, with a clear span of 1,018 metres. It is the second longest span cable-stayed bridge in the World. ADR provided commercial and contractual advice to the main contractor with respect to, inter alia, the construction of the bored pile tower foundations, concrete backspans and fabrication and erection of the steel deck.

Kowloon Southern Link

Kowloon Southern Link

Kowloon Southern Link comprised the construction of the new West Kowloon Station together with twin TBM bored tunnels linking Hong Kong's East Rail and West Rail. The tunneling involved a slurry TBM for construction of twin stacked tunnels in mixed ground beneath one of the most densely populated areas of the World. ADR provided senior management to lead the claims team in the preparation of claims for delay, disruption and management of change.

Eagle's Nest Tunnel

Eagle's Nest Tunnel

Eagle's Nest Tunnel comprised the construction of two drill and blast, 3-lane road tunnels, each approximately 2.1 km in length. The works also included a 400 metre adit tunnel, at-grade approach works, north and south portal buildings, ventilation building, administration building and toll plaza. ADR prepared claims for delay and disruption for the main contractor with respect to the civils, building and E&M installations and also advised on measurement disputes.

Hong Kong International Airport North Satellite Concourse comprised the construction of a standalone fully-operational passenger concourse with 10 bridge-served frontal stands and vehicle connection to existing Terminal 1. ADR prepared claims for the main contractor with respect to the implementation of delay recover measures on the RC structure.
